Book Review: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

August 28, 2019

I can only say a couple of things about this book that have not already been said. I read the book in two days, and I knew who committed the murder. I will also concur with other reviewers that have said they didn't like the characters, their self-absorption, their multitude of flaws and sameness of voice, their self-pity, their whining, and most of all the main character's drunken stupors which, of course, made the whole story possible. What I did like was the voyeuristic angle of witnessing a criminal act or the potential of a criminal act from a train window which is why this book has been compared to Hitchcock, and notably his thriller Rear Window. Certainly, the hullabaloo and hype have been greater than the product.reader. You will not be able to put it down.
